The first pictures of the all-electric Ducati V21L racing prototype testing have been revealed, just two months after the manufacturer won the contract to supply the bikes for the one-make MotoE electric motorcycle racing series from 2023.
Although Ducati has yet to put an electric motorbike on public sale, it is taking over the contract to supply racing bikes from Italian electric bike maker Energica from 2023.
The V21L prototype was tested by long-time Ducati test rider Michele Pirro at the Misano circuit, although no lap times or performance figures have been released, nor any details of the bike’s battery, motor or technical set-up.
“The first electric Ducati on the track is exceptional not only for its uniqueness but also for the type of undertaking: challenging both for its performance objectives and for its extremely short timescales,” said Roberto Canè, Ducati’s eMobility Director. “We are certainly not finished yet; indeed, we know that the road ahead is still very long.”
The Energica Ego Corsa, has a claimed top speed of 160mph and is powered by a 145bhp liquid-cooled electric motor producing 162lb ft of torque.
