Italian car manufacturer Maserati has confirmed electric versions of the forthcoming GranTurismo sports coupe and forthcoming Grecale SUV will arrive in 2023 as its first two electric models – and will offer an electric version of every car by 2025.
Maserati’s parent company Stellantis recently confirmed that Maserati would become an electric-only brand by 2030. The firm will only launch new electric cars from 2026 onwards, although ICE models launched before then will remain on sale until their production runs end ahead of 2030.
Maserati says that thanks to growth throughout 2021, the brand is now ready to launch its new range of electric models, which will be branded Folgore.
The new GranTurismo will be the first car to be offered with an electric powertrain and will debut in 2023. Maserati added that the new sports coupe would ‘offer cutting-edge technological solutions derived from Formula E’ as the brand recently announced its entry into the 2023 electric racing championship.
Following the GranTurismo will be the Grecale SUV, which will also be offered as an electric model and is expected to be revealed shortly. That will be followed later in 2023 by a GranCabrio Folgore – an open-top GranTurismo.
The firm also confirmed that the MC20 sports car, new Quattroporte saloon and the next-gen Levante SUV will all gain Folgore electric models by 2025.
