German firm Quantron has ramped up its offerings in the electric commercial vehicle market with a new light cargo truck and an electric lorry tractor unit.
Quantron, which can trace its history back to 1882, already offers a range of electric buses, and is expanding its offerings in the commercial vehicle market.
The new Quantron Qargo 4 EV Light Truck is designed for ‘last-mile’ deliveries, and as such will rival the likes of the Volta Zero and the Ford E-Transit. The machine has a range of 217 miles from an 81kW battery, with a payload of 2300kg. It has a wheelbase of 3300mm and weights 4500kg.
The motor produces 120kW of power, and the CATL-sourced battery can be charged in 80 minutes at speeds of 60kW.
While that machine is aimed at inner-city deliveries, Quantron is also expanding into the market for larger goods vehicles with the new Quantron QHD BEC 50-280. The machine is effectively an electric conversion of the DAF CF Space Cab, and is a 4x2 tractor unit.
Quantron claims the machine has an output of 350kW, and a range of 136 miles. Power comes from a 280kWh battery, which the firm claims can be recharged in 6.5 hours at a speed of up to 150kW. The unit also offers a whopping 2583lb ft of torque, a six-speed automatic gearbox and automatic brake regeneration.
Quantron is also working on a range of other electric technology, including electric retrofitting options for existing vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell technology.
