Cambridge based startup Flit has launched its new Commuter Edition of it's Flit-16 folding e-bike.
The new machine weighs in at just 15kg, and as with many folding e-bikes, its makers claim it can be “folded to the size of hand luggage in 10 seconds”.
The original Flit-16 model was launched via a crowdfunding campaign, but this updated model will be funded by more traditional channels.
Updates for the Commuter Edition include a new mudguard and reinforced parts for greater durability. With a distinct lack of seat stays, it is an interesting frame design, and not obviously electric at first glance.
The lithium-ion battery (with a stated range of up to 31 miles) is built into the frame and is removable for repair, charging or maintenance.
The bike will comes with suspension, integrated lights, and ‘puncture resistant' tyres. With its folding capabilities and low weight, it's no surprise it's aimed at the urban commuter market. We'll hopefully have a full review in the coming months.
The Commuter Edition Flit-16 is priced at £2499 and is available to order now, with a delivery time of one week.
Flit was founded in 2016 by Dave Henderson, an ex-Jaguar Land Rover engineer, and transport policy expert Alex Murray with the first-generation Flit-16 going on sale in January 2021.
