German car manufacturer Volkswagen will showcase its new fully-electric ID Aero saloon concept next week, with the firm teasing the car’s design in a number of sketches.
Volkswagen says its future long-slung EV is aimed at the Chinese automobile market but has confirmed the ID Aero - which will be shown in production form next year - is set to go on sale in Europe and North America.
The new ID Aero will expand the current ID line-up and is set to rival the likes of the Tesla Model 3, BMW i4, Polestar 2 and soon-to-be launched Hyundai Ioniq 6.
Volkswagen says its future model will sit in the “high volume middle class segment” and will sit on the firm’s MEB modular electric platform.
At present the sleek EV concept has not been given a name but we expect the ID Aero to be named the ID 6 when it arrives next year.
The ID Aero concept will be shown next Monday 27 June.
