British brand Moke International has agreed to sell up to 100% of its shareholding to electric vehicle specialist EV Technology Group (EVTG) in order to bolster the firm’s electric ambitions.
EVTG specialises in electrifying automotive brands and will assist the firm with its new Electric Moke - an emissions-free recreation of the 1964 Mini Moke.
Moke International says it will benefit from EVTG’s “world-class product development, engineering and manufacturing capabilities”, helping the firm to expand into new markets.
EV Technology Group will own approximately 65% of Moke International while maintaining the option to acquire up to 100% of the remaining shares.
The deal represents the electrifying specialist firm’s first full purchase of an automotive brand which they say “fits with its strategy of reinventing brands for electrification”.
The Electric Moke – which is priced from £29,150 – is a continuation of the car designed by Alec Issigonis in 1964. Featuring a 33kW electric motor, the Electric Moke has a top speed of 62mph and a 0-34mph time of 4.5 seconds.
Although the battery capacity of the Moke has not been revealed, the firm claims it has a range of up to 89 miles and can be charged in around four hours.
“EV Technology Group’s in-house expertise, and customer-centric technologies will also be invaluable to us as we continue to develop the Electric Moke and more pioneering products,” said Isobel Dando, CEO of Moke International.
“I am also looking forward to working closely with Wouter and the entire EV Technology Group leadership team to further develop Moke International and other exciting brands to come.”
Production of the electrified Moke is already underway with first customer deliveries expected in the coming weeks.
