Moke International’s new parent firm, the EV Technology Group (EVTG), has continued its rapid expansion by agreeing to snap up British manufacturer Fablink Group – effectively bringing the manufacture of the Mini-based electric beach buggy in-house.

EVTG has been established with a focus on electrifying ‘iconic brands’ such as Moke, which recently relaunched with a new electric version of the cult 1960s buggy. The agreement to buy Northamptonshire-based Fablink fits with its plan to build its own engineering and manufacturing capability.
Fablink Group employs more than 750 people and specialises in manufacturing parts and vehicles for leading automotive firms. The group includes Streamline Automotive, which specialises in manufacturing low- and medium-volume electric vehicles – including a contract manufacturing deal to assemble the new Moke Electric.
Wouter Witvoet, the boss of EVTG, said the deal was “of huge strategic importance”. He added: “Having access to Fablink’s 750 world-class electric vehicle manufacturing and engineering experts in-house makes us more competitive, efficient, and agile for Fablink’s existing customers and our own future projects.”
