Swedish electric motorbike manufacturer Cake is set to expand its operations in the UK after opening its first dedicated store in London.
The new Cake Pop-Up Store has opened in Shoreditch in central London, and is intended to help attract private and business customers in the UK’s capital. While it is a temporary site, Cake is planning to open a permanent store close by in the near-future.
Cake boss Stefan Ytterborn said that “London is a part of our multi-city strategy, where we treat key cities as proper markets of their own”.
He added: “There is definitely an appetite for sustainable transportation alternatives in this vast city, and sustainability is our reason to exist and simply inseparable from our business. With its commuter challenges, yet maturity in terms of bicycle riding, Cake will further release the congestion issues of London.”

The 100square metre Pop-Up Store in Shoreditch will include a showroom, event space and service centre, and will also house a fleet of demonstration vehicles.
But while London will become Cake’s UK “base of operations”, the firm has said it will bring “an expanded commercial focus” on the country, partly in response to government plans to end the sale of most non-zero emission two-wheel vehicles by 2030.
Cake’s bikes are also currently offered in the UK through Stag Motorcycles in Hungerford and Motorbikes Ltd in Guildford, Surrey.
The firm currently offers a range of three electric bikes: the Makka electric moped, Kalk off-roader and Osa utility bike, all of which are offered in multiple variations.
