African mobility firm Moove has launched a new smartphone app to help ride-hailing electric car drivers in London find charging stations.
Developed in partnership with EV card charging firm Paua, the app shows users the location and availability of more than 6600 chargers and is aimed at helping Uber drivers operating in the capital.
Nigerian start-up Moove was founded in 2020 and offers Uber drivers car and motorcycle financing in Africa, India and London.
The firm says its new Moove Charge app ‘removes a major barrier to EV transitioning for mobility entrepreneurs” by helping drivers locate slow, fast and ultrafast EV charge points.
The app uses a payment wallet function, removing the need for a subscription to use the application.
As part of the app, Paua has added its network of EV charging providers which include Inonity, fastned and Osprey. According to Moove, this improves productivity for Uber drivers, while also providing a cost saving of up to £340 per year.
Moove only launched its operations in London in August, offering customers rent-to-buy leases on the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq Electric. This allows owners to pay a weekly fee for the car, avoiding the need for any deposits or end-of-lease payments.
