Canyon updates e-bike line-up with four new machines

Canyon has introduced a new line-up of e-bikes for 2023, including new models in its Touring, Commuter and City collections.

The German firm has said that the new models, launched under its Ride Unltd campaign, are a “response to the call” of the popularity of bicycles and a “catalyst for revolutionary shift.” The new models include the Roadlite:ON CF 9 LTD, Commuter:ON 7, Pathlite:ON 9 LTD SUV and the Precede:ON AL.

The Canyon Roadlite:ON CF 9 LTD is the range-topping version of the Roadlite range. This agile and sleek e-bike uses the Fazua Ride 60 mid-drive motor and 430Wh removable battery, as well as SRAM’s Eagle AXS 12-speed wireless electronic groupset.

It also includes a rear light that acts as a brake light and a ‘dazzling’ front light, although presumably not too dazzling. It’s the most sporty looking of the selection, and it will cost £4,799.

Canyon Roadlite:ON 6 e-bike review

Next up is the Canyon Commuter:ON, which will be priced at £3,199 and comes with a brand new colourway for this year. The commuter bike features a rear rack, long mudguards and hydraulic disc brakes. It also uses the Fazue 60 drive unit and 430Wh battery.

The Canyon Pathlite:ON 9 LTD SUV is next in the line-up, designed to be a mixed terrain, do-it-all bike. A mainstay in the brand’s e-touring category, the Pathlite:ON comes with a 750Wh battery for longer journeys and instead of a Fazua system is equipped with Bosch’s Performance Line CX mid-drive offering.

It also includes that firm’s new ABS feature on the suspension forks. The Pathlite:ON 9 LTD SUV will be Canyon’s most expensive new addition, at £5,249.

Finally, the Canyon Precede:ON AL is a city e-bike with a step-through frame and cargo-carrying capabilities, it looks like quite a hefty bike but is great for utility riders in urban environments. Again, the Precede:ON uses a Bosch drive system and battery, but instead of being chain-driven, it uses a Gates Carbon belt drive and Enviolo hub gears. The Precede:ON AL will set you back at least £3,349.
