The Vauxhall Grandland compact crossover will be replaced by a new electric model next year.
The SUV (known as the Opel Grandland in markets outside the UK) was launched in 2017 and is produced at parent firm Stellantis’s Eisenach Assembly Plant in Germany. But Stellantis has now confirmed that it will invest more than £114 million in the plant to produce what is described as a “BEV successor vehicle” that will use the new STLA Medium platform.

Production of the new machine is set to begin in the second half of 2024, with Stellantis adding that it would be a key part of Vauxhall’s commitments to a fully electric product line-up by 2028. It will join electric versions of the Corsa and Astra in the firm’s line-up.
While thew new model will be a successor to the Grandland, it might not necessarily retain that name. Sister brand Opel has previously revealed plans for a compact coupe-crossover that will carry the historic Manta nameplate, and is due to launch by 2025.
No technical details of the model have been revealed yet, but the STLA Medium platform is also used by the Peugeot e-3008 that is due to launch later this year. That machine will be offered with three powertrains including a range-topping twin-motor all-wheel-drive model, and with a maximum range of 435 miles.
