Automotive technology firm REE has revealed its new P7-C cab design, the latest model to sit on its bespoke P7 electric modular chassis that is focused on the inner-city delivery vehicle market.
The new P7-C is a Class 4 chassis cab joins REE Automotive’s line-up of electric vehicles, which includes the P7-B box truck and the P7-S stripped chassis for class 3-5 markets.
The firm also collaborated with electric power chassis firm EAVX and American van body manufacturer Morgan Olson to create the Proxima Powered by REE electric van.
REE says its new iteration was developed based on direct feedback from ongoing evaluations from customers using proof-of-concept vehicles, with the P7-C designed to “meet fleet owners’ specific needs”.
The P7-C offers a range of up to 150 miles, the ability to carry a payload of up to 7000lbs (3175kg) and a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 16,000lbs (7257kg).
REE says the P7-C cab has a “driver-centric” focus, with a 13in centre screen, large windscreen for improved visibility in urban environments and durable materials used throughout.
The high cab roof and low floor platform means the driver can stand up and move around the cabin.
And due to its all-wheel-drive layout, the P7-C has a good turning circle of 39ft (11m) for better navigation around tight city centre streets.
“Part of what our customers love about our highly modular P7 platform lineup is the fact that they can make the most out of it,” said Tali Miller, chief business officer of REE.
“Be it P7-B, the ultra-low floor electric box truck designed for the highly popular last-mile Class 3 segment, or P7-S that powers the Class 5 Proxima with EAVX and Morgan Olson for the walk-in-van market, and now the new cab design of the P7-C Class 4 chassis cab that we developed in response to market feedback to best meet customer needs, including capitalising on government incentive programs.”
Deliveries for the entire REE electric line-up is expected towards the end of 2023.
