Electric supercars might be all the rage - but they’ve got nothing on this one-off, all-electric drift car developed by Audi for extreme sports sensation Ken Block.
The Audi S1 E-tron Quattro Hoonitron will be driven by Block in the next installments of his Gymkhana video series, which has already received hundreds of millions of views online, and it’s outlandish design is inspired by Audi’s rally heritage.
The car is based on the recently launched Audi RS E-tron GT, but has been extensively modified to Block’s requirements. Although no performance figures have been revealed, Block has claimed it is capable of going from a standstill into a 93mph donut, suggesting it’s fully laden with trick mechanical and electronic gadgetry.
Audi has confirmed the car has all-wheel-drive from two electric motors and features a carbonfibre chassis. As you might imagine, it’s also jam-packed with a full suite of safety equipment just in case anything goes wrong. The wild bodywork styling was created by Audi’s head of design, Marc Lichte, and is inspired by the Sport Quattro S1 that competed on the famous Pikes Peak hillclimb in 1987.
Block has already tested the car, and announced that the next series of Gymkhana videos will run under the Elektrikhana banner in homage to its powertrain.
