Order books for the new E-208 will open this autumn, with the electric hatchback gaining a new electric powertrain, bigger range and refreshed, sporty, exterior look.
-
Launched as a rival to Renault Zoe to the Honda E, the first-generation E-208 arrived with a 100kW electric motor and 50kWh battery offering a range of up to 217 miles.
A mid-life update in 2021 saw the E-208 gain a heat pump and revised transmission, which helped to increase its range to 225 miles.
-
The new electric supermini now features a 115kW electric motor paired to a 51kWh battery, offering a range of up to 248 miles on a single charge.
A 20-80% charge is expected to take around 25 minutes using a 100k rapid charger, or four hours and 40 minutes using a 7kW home charger.
-
The front end has been fully redesigned to feature the brand’s new logo, with the front grille maintaining its body-coloured styling as seen on the previous generation model. LED lights come as standard.
-
Like its e-2008 sibling, the updated e-208 gets the same three-claw light signature consisting of three long vertical lights that are integrated into the bumper. To give the car a broader stance, the lights have been shifted to the outer edge.
-
Further updates have been made to the rear, which gets its own three claw light signature comprising of red horizontally arranged LED lights.
-
In keeping with Peugeot’s electric range, the new e-208 gets white ‘E’ motifs dotted around the exterior of the car. And it’s not just the bodywork that has been revised: two new wheel designs have been created for the E-208, with 16in and 17in alloys available.
-
Inside the funky new E-208 gets the firm’s latest i-Connect infotainment system which is operated through a 10in touchscreen display that sits on the top of the dashboard. GT versions get a 3D display as standard.
A digital display sits behind Peugeot’s compact steering wheel, a feature which has become synonymous with the brand.
-
Thankfully Peugeot hasn’t done away with physical buttons just yet, with a selection of functions, such as air conditioning, easily accessible.
-
A suite of new driver assistance features have been added to the electric hatch, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, road sign recognition and lane keep assist.
-
Three trim levels are available from launch: Active, Allure and GT. The entry-level Active trim gets the new front and rear light signature, as well as the updated 10in touchscreen display. Opt for the range-topping GT trim and full LED headlights are added, as well a 17in wheels and high-definition parking camera.
-
The new electric Peugeot will start from £32,400, which is £2445 less that the first-generation model.
Opt for the range-topping e-208 GT and it will cost you £36,250, undercutting the technically related Vauxhall Corsa Electric by £1835.
