Meet the Nissan Hyper Urban concept, a striking city-focused EV that showcases the Japanese firm’s design and technological ambitions for its inbound electric cars.
The Hyper Urban is the first of several new electric concepts Nissan is unveiling before the Tokyo motor show at the end of October.
-
The radical SUV follows the reveal of the boldly-styled 20-23 concept, a small electric hot hatch that previews the next Nissan Micra.
-
Nissan’s latest concept is the first in the series of new ‘hyper’ concepts, with each new machine represented by a “symbolic character” and “custom-tailored features that add value to unique lifestyles and diverse aspirations”.
-
Nissan says its Hyper Urban SUV has been styled to target the tastes of “urban and suburban professional” with the concept characterised by a “sleek and modern aesthetic”.
-
The exterior is finished in a special chromatic shade of yellow, which changes colour depending on the angle of the light hitting it. The sleek body majors on aerodynamic efficiency and is equipped with wide tyres and scissors doors for a sporty look.
-
Inside the Hyper Urban features a customisable instrument panel and infotainment display. The front seats also fold into the rear to create a lounge-style sofa arrangement.
-
Nissan says its new concept features vehicle-to-grid technology which can reduce the pressure on the electricity network and allow owners to earn money by propping up the grid during peak times.
The Japanese brand will reveal three more digital concepts before the Tokyo motor show, with all four ‘hyper’ concepts set to be shown at the event from 26 October.
