Electric bikes come in various formats: you can have a folding machine that's great for commuting; a kitted out e-mountain bike for hitting the trails, or a hybrid fixed frame bike for a mix of both.
But when you head out for a ride, the last thing you want to do is run out of charge. With this in mind, we've put together a list of long-range electric bikes that will ensure you reach your destination.

Honbike Uni4
With its aircraft-grade aluminium frame, the Uni4 weighs 20.2kg. A 250w electric motor with 33lb ft powers the rear wheel while a 432Wh lithium-ion battery gives a range of 62 miles and takes around 4.5 hours to charge. Riders have an option of three modes: Eco, City and Sport. The Uni4 also comes equipped with a headlight and rear light, an LED screen to show speed, Bluetooth connectivity and a high water-resistance rating of IPX6. The Uni4 currently costs $1699 in the US and is spotted for £1799 in the UK.

Cannondale Adventure Neo 4
The comfort-focussed Adventure Neo 4 comes fitted with a comfy saddle, bump-absorbing tyres and power assist up to 20mph. It uses a 400Wh battery that provides a range of 65 miles and is tied to a 250W motor, giving 29lb ft of torque. It will take around 3.5 hours to charge from empty to full, with 50% charge arriving in 1.5 hours. UK prices start from £2080. Cannondale don’t offer the Neo 4 in the US - however, buyers can have the Adventure Neo 3 EQ which has the same range as the Neo 4; it costs $3125.

Gazelle Medeo T10 HMB
Most batteries simply provide power but the 500Wh battery in the T10 HMB also ensures stability and improves road holding. It’ll cover 70 miles on a single charge and buyers can opt to have a second battery for additional range. It weighs 22kg and delivers 20mph of powered assistance via the 48lb ft motor. The T10 HMB comes with 10 gears, hydraulic disc brakes all round, an LED headlight and four driving modes: Eco, Tour, Sport and Turbo. UK prices start from £2530 and it costs $3299 for US buyers.

Gazelle Ultimate C380
To keep things ultra quiet and provide a low-maintenance solution, the C380 uses a belt drive rather than a classic chain drive. A 55lb ft motor powers the rear 28” wheel and buyers have an option of two variants: Platinum (80-mile range and 500Wh battery) or Diamond (96-mile range and 625Wh battery), with a price difference of £170. Standard features include a front and rear light and disc brakes - riders can also order a range of attachable bags. Prices start from £3999 for the 2023 model or $4749 for those in the US.

Urtopia Chord
This piano-inspired electric bike comes with a 352Wh removable battery, allowing the rider to travel 74 miles. Charging takes three hours or 2.5 hours via quick charge, and power comes from a 250w motor, providing 33lb ft. Standard equipment includes voice control, fingerprint start, LED screen, haptic interaction, Bluetooth music capability for both Android and iOS, built-in navigation and GPS tracking. Riders can also choose between five modes: Pedal, Eco, Comfort, Sport and Turbo. The Chord costs $1999 or £1619 for those in the UK.

Benno RemiDemi
Buyers of the RemiDemi have multiple set-up choices including a rear passenger seat, a child seat, front and rear luggage racks, a delivery box, front and rear tray mounting, and even a side surfboard carrier. It comes in an array of vibrant colours and two power options: Performance (20mph and 400Wh battery) or Performance Sport (28 mph and 500Wh – available to US and NZ customers only). It will cover 75 miles on a single charge and will charge from empty to full in around 6.5 hours. Prices for the RemiDemi start from £3399 or $3899 for US buyers.

Himiway Zebra Fat Bike
Himiway fitted the Zebras with chunky Kenda all-terrain tyres to open the doors further to riders keen on exploring. Equipped with a 960Wh battery, it will return 80 miles per charge on pedal assist mode, and 60 miles on only electric – charging takes around 7 hours. With seven speeds, a 250W motor and a weight of 36kg, the Zebra is restricted to 15.5mph but can be derestricted. Onboard, riders will find an LCD screen and a USB charger. Prices start from just £1999 or $1799 as a current offer for US buyers.

S-Works Turbo Creo SL
Built to keep weight low, the Creo SL uses a lightweight 240W motor and a carbon frame, resulting in a total weight of just 11kg. To help combat range anxiety, the 320Wh battery gives an 80-mile range while an optional range extender adds further 40 miles. The Creo SL can be connected to a phone via an app, allowing the rider to monitor the riding style, record routes and monitor the battery. The Creo SL has a £12,000 price tag or $13,500 for those in the US.

Riese & Müller Homage GT Rohloff
Built by German company Riese & Müller, this rather swish-looking e-bike has been designed to both maximise range and comfort, therefore it can travel up to 100 miles on a single charge and comes kitted out with bespoke suspension developed by the manufacturer.
It also has a very low step-through, which means you don't have to put much effort into mounting it; this is handy if you're in a rush.
In Germany, the Homage GT Rohloff is available from €7069 (£5960), making it quite pricey. But when you consider its range, unique design and attention to comfort, you do get what you pay for.

Juiced HyperScrambler 2
Although its motor only produces 1.3bhp, the 43kg HyperScrambler 2 will hit 30mph and cover 100 miles thanks to two 19.2Ah batteries, giving nearly 2000Wh; it will charge in 9.6 hours. Standard features include a horn and alarm, hydraulic brakes, dual suspension, indicators and brake lights. An LCD screen gives trip tracking options and riders can choose from various modes: Easy-Pedaling, Eco, Sport and Race, with the latter effecting range, of course. The HyperScrambler 2 costs just £2025 or $1999 for US buyers.

Lectric XPremium
The XPremium has seven gears, an 800W motor and two 47V batteries, providing a range of 100 miles while using the pedal assist function, and a top speed of 28mph. It folds in two, allowing for easy storage and is equipped with a rack capable of carrying 25kg. While the battery is removable, it comes fitted with an external charging port and takes around 4-6 hours to charge. Prices start from £1325 or $1799 for those in the US.

Cannondale Tesoro Neo X 3 Remixte
Aimed at those looking for adventure in the wilderness, the Neo X 3 has large Schwalbe tyres and 100mm of front suspension. Its 37lb ft 250w motor is fed by a 500Wh battery, giving a reported range of 104 miles, and will top out at 28mph – riders will also have access to nine speeds. Charging from empty takes around 3.5hr and riders can monitor the bike’s speed, calories burned and distance through the Cannondale mobile app. Those buying in the US can expect to pay $3400, and those in the UK - £3330.

Cannondale Topstone Neo Carbon Lefty 3
With its dual suspension set-up and skinny but grippy tyres, the Lefty 3 is designed for gravel roads, while having most of the design cues of an endurance bike. The rear wheel is driven by a 63lb ft 250W motor, powered by a 500Wh battery giving a total range of 109 miles, and it takes 3.5 hours to charge. Its carbon fibre frame keeps weight low and the entire bike weighs just 17.7kg. It doesn’t come fitted with lights or anti-theft features, but it does have a fitted LCD screen. The Lefty 3 costs £5600 or $6300 for US buyers.

Tern GSD S10 LR
The GSD S10 LR is designed with delivery in mind and buyers can purchase attachable components such as canopy child carriers, delivery crates, a shortbed tray, and even a bike tow kit. Its frame can carry up to 200kg, although this will, of course, affect the range.
The S10 has 10 speeds, four selectable drive modes and is driven by a 63lb ft motor paired to a dual battery (900Wh), giving a range of 121 miles. Prices start from $5699 in the US for the dual battery option or £5100 for those in the UK.

Trek Allant+ 9 Stagger
Equipped with a 63lb ft 250W motor and a 625Wh Bosch PowerTube battery, the Stagger will manage 124 miles and 15.5mph with maximum assistance. It gets a Gates CDX chain for low maintenance, 27.5” wheels, a USB charger and LCD screen, integrated lights, a single gear set-up, and is compatible with Range Boost which can double the range if required. The +9 Stagger has a £5000 price tag while the US 9.9S equivalent costs $5849.

Riese & Müller Superdelite GT Rohloff
With an electric range of up to 125 miles, the Superdelite GT from German manufacturer Riese & Müller has been built to take on any terrain you can throw at it. This means that it is a hybrid, so you can ride it to the shops and up your nearest mountain, if you like.
It uses a 63lb ft electric motor developed by Bosch, with two battery options: 500Wh and 625Wh. This makes for a generous power delivery and electric range.
It also has "always on" daytime running lights so that your safety is guaranteed in all weather conditions, and its suspension has been configured to maximise ride comfort and controllability.

Raleigh Centros Tour
Raleigh offers the Centros Tour in three sizes: Large, Medium and Small, and in two colours: blue and green. The total bike weight is 28kg and comes fitted with a 625Wh battery, which gives 130 miles of range without the available option of a range extender, and it charges in five hours. It comes with an integrated LCD screen, which displays speed and distance figures, nine-speed gears and disc brakes all round. Prices start from around £2700. Unfortunately, US buyers will need to ride this one out as Raleigh don’t yet offer the Centros Tour overseas.

Electric Bike Company Model J
With its minimalistic frame, natural wooden features and retro looks, the Model J sits on 24” wheels and can boast a 150-mile range thanks to the available 36Ah battery and 750W motor. Buyers can customise the chainguard and wheel colour, choose from three batteries, add different throttle options and spec a technology pack which gives a horn, turn signals and lights, and an anti-theft alarm system. It comes with an LCD screen and USB charger as standard. Although the Model J is not sold in the UK, buyers could have it imported with prices starting from just under £1000 (not including importation costs.) Those in the US can pick one up for just $1199.

Delfast Top 3.0i
There are plenty of cool features on the Top 3.0i: motorbike-like looks, headlights, mirrors with integrated indicators, an immobiliser system and a start/stop button. The 48Ah battery gives a riding range of 199 miles and takes around five hours to charge. Power comes from a 134lb ft 5000W electric motor which is good for a top speed of 50mph. In 2017, Delfast won a Guinness World Record for the greatest distance travelled on an electric bike with its Top 3.0i, achieving 228 miles on a single charge. Prices start from £5513 or $5999 for US buyers.

Eunorau Flash
The Flash is a great looking e-bike that can be had with various different battery configurations. WIth three battery packs fitted to its neat motorbike-style frame, the Flash promises a range of up to 220 miles (354 km).
The e-bike’s motor is fitted in the centre of the frame, but low down for an improved centre of gravity so the bike remains stable and balanced.
It’s fitted with an Exsho Strong-DG front fork – which promises 80mm of travel – and large wheels for a more comfortable ride.

Fuell Flluid-2
The Flluid-2 has a range of up to 225 miles if you run it in its 'low assist' mode, and a range of 111 miles when using its 'high assist' mode. It uses a 2000Wh battery that can charge to 80% in around four hours - or six hours of you want 100%.
Power comes from a 96lb ft 1000W motor with an integrated seven-speed automatic gearbox. All bikes are fitted with an LCD screen with Bluetooth and a geolocation system accessible via a mobile app, removable batteries, a ring lock, a headlight and a horn. In the US, the Flluid 3 costs from $4199, while UK prices are around £4400.

Optibike R22 Everest
Designed for rough terrain, the Optibike R22 Everest is fitted with 200mm long travel suspension for rock climbing and Tanken tyres for extra grip. A dual-battery set-up gives 3260Wh while a 145lb ft 2500W motor drives the rear wheels, this means a 300-mile range and a 36mph top speed.
Weight is relatively low at 42kg due to the R22 Everest having a full carbon frame and battery case. Unfortunately you can only buy an R22 in the US, with prices starting from an eye-watering $18,900.
