The Renault Twingo is making a return in 2026 as an all-electric city car that will be offered with an entry price below £17,000 and deliver “best-in-class” efficiency.
-
The new “urban vehicle” will sit beneath the inbound Renault 5 electric hatchback and 4 electric crossover, serving as a direct successor to the previous generation ICE-powered Twingo.
-
Revealed as part of the Renault Groups Capital Markets Day event, Renault CEO Luca De Meo confirmed that the car will be designed and built in Europe, and promised the new model would be offered at an affordable price to undercut rivals from China.
-
Renault says the Twingo will also cost 50% less to produce than a new C-segment SUV thanks to using less materials and focusing on software that will require less parts.
-
The French marque claims the Twingo model will offer an efficiency of 6.2mpkWh and will arrive as a “fit-for-purpose” electric city car with “no compromise”.
Renault’s future EV is also said to offer 75% less CO2 emissions over its lifecycle compared to an average internal combustion engine car sold in Europe in 2023.
-
The brand confirmed that the new EV will cost below €20,000 (£17,000), with the firm claiming that the car will cost less than €100 (£87) on a finance contract.
-
The new Twingo will fill the gap left by the outgoing model. The Zoe meanwhile is more directly replaced by the Renault 5 hatchback.
