HumanForest introduces upgraded e-bike to London rental fleet

28 Oct 2022

London-based electric bike rental firm HumanForest has introduced a new e-bike on its fleet, which it claims offers better ride quality and can go further between charges.

The firm launched in a limited operating zone last year, and has now expanded to cover a substantial area of central and south west London. HumanForest says that 250,000 users have completed more than one million journeys using its machines in the past year.

The new e-bike model is now rolling out alongside the firm’s existing fleet, and the firm claims it offers a number of small but significant upgrades. In response to user feedback, HumanForest’s new bike features a seat post with increased height range, softer tyres and a thicker seat to make it more comfortable and accessible.

As with all pedal-assist e-bikes in the UK, the maximum speed for electric boost remains 15.5mph, but HumanForest says the new bike is lighter and as a result can reach that speed quicker.

The new bike also has a larger battery, extending the electric assist range from 50 to 62 miles, which means that HumanForest can have the bikes in operation for longer between charging.

Agustin Guilisasti, HumanForest’s boss, said that the new bike would help “rase the bar on micro-mobility in London, improving the sustainability and accessibility of our service with a lightweight frame and longer range battery.”

HumanForest continues to offer all users 10 free minutes of riding per day, and recently launched a ‘Friends of the Forest’ scheme that gives students, NHS workers and emergency services staff a 20 per cent discount on all trips. It has also launched a TreeCoin Market scheme, which allows riders to earn ‘TreeCoins’ they can exchange for rewards similar to an airline points scheme.

It also offers a rental moped service in London.
