The AA Driving School is adding electric cars to its fleet of vehicles, including a Peugeot e-208 and e-2008.
The AA selected the e-208 and e-2008 based on their suite of safety features, which include Active Safety Brake, programmable cruise control and speed limiter, Lane Keeping Assist and speed limit recognition.
The e-208 and e-2008 are powered by the same 50kWh battery and offer a range of 225 and 214 miles respectively - with Peugeot adding that this was more than enough to cover a driving instructor’s typical 120 mile average day.
Both Peugeots can be charged at 100kWh, meaning a battery can be replenished from 0-80% in just 30 minutes, ensuring instructors have plenty of flexibility whether to charge at home or use the public network.
The driving school estimates that by offering electric cars to instructors it could lead to a carbon saving of more than 1700 tonnes per year.
In total 15% of instructors are on the waiting list for an electric car, which will be made available from March of this year.
London, Liverpool and Cardiff will be among the first locations to start EV lessons, with further interest from driving instructors across England, Scotland and Wales.
