Gridserve has firmed up plans to open a new Electric Forecourt near Basildon, which will be the second of its super-smart charging hubs in Essex.
The firm’s Electric Forecourt sites are dedicated EV charging sites which feature high-speed chargers along with facilities including a lounge, toilets, retail and refreshment units and Wi-Fi.

Gridserve opened its first forecourt in Braintree, Essex, with a second following in Norwich, Norfolk. A third will open later this year next to Gatwick Airport. The company also operates a number of charging hubs, including at a number of motorway service stations.
Basildon Borough Council has now approved plans for a new Electric Forecourt just off the A312 in Nevendon, which is close close to the centre of Basildon. It will site on 3.34 acres of greenfield land, and Gridserve is planning to install 31 high-speed chargers.
Gridserve says that the site will be powered by net zero carbon energy, with on-site solar panels and battery storage to help reduce dependency on the energy grid.
Emma Harding, Gridserve’s permits manager, said the firm was “committed to ensuring there are myriad environmental and economic benefits for the local community, beyond having the world’s most advanced EV charging facility on their doorstep.”
Gridserve is still finalising a date to begin construction on the site, and does not have a planned opening date yet.
