Kia EV6 wins (yet another) Car of the Year prize

The Kia EV6 has added to its growing boatload of trophies by winning the prestigious 2022 Car of the Year award – making it the third electric car to have done so.

The Car of the Year prize is organised by nine automotive publications, including Move Electric's sister brand Autocar, and this year was voted on by a jury of 59 journalists from 23 countries. Yes, it's basically Eurovision but with mercifully less singing.

Seven cars had been named as finalists for the 2022 award, and six of them were full electric machines. After the votes were tallied, the EV6 took the title with 279 points, ahead of the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric with 265 points.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is closely related to the EV6, finished third in the voting.

The Nissan Leaf became the first electric car to win the prize in 2011, with the Jaguar I-Pace claiming the trophy in 2019.

The EV6 has also won the What Car? Car of the Year Award, and has been given a top five-star rating by Move Electric.

Anyway, if the EV6 does win so many trophies they no longer fit in its (really quite big) boot, it does have a frunk - or froot, if you prefer - to cram a few more into...
