Chinese car brand MG has revealed its pricing and specification details for its updated MG 5 EV, with the new facelifted estate starting from £30,995.
MG is to offer the new MG 5 in two specification variants, with the entry-level SE trim version gaining automatic LED lights, roof rails, adaptive cruise control and MG Pilot safety features.
Above the SE is the Trophy model which starts from £33,495. As the range-topper it gets a larger 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, rear privacy glass, heated and electrically operated front seats and 17 inch wheels.
Like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, the new MG 5 features vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities meaning drivers can use the battery to power other electronic devices.
The new MG 5 EV Long Range is equipped with a 61.1kWh battery which promises a range of up to 249 miles.
A Standard Range model with a 50.3kWh battery will arrive later with a range of up to 199 miles.
The firm recently revealed the all-new pure-electric MG 4 which sits on MG’s new Modular Scalable Platform, with the electric hatchback to be launched in September.
MG says that the new MG 4 and MG5 are expected to “significantly expand the appeal of its already successful range of electric cars”.
“The continued success of the outgoing MG5 EV model reflected its unique proposition in the marketplace, so we’ve worked extremely hard to identify a suitable balance between equipment upgrades and price,” said MG Motor UK’s commercial director, Guy Pigounakis.
“We believe the result represents unbeatable value for money in the current marketplace, and that the new MG5 EV will encourage more drivers than ever to make the switch to zero emissions motoring.”
First deliveries of the updated electric estate are expected towards the end of 2022.
