Dutch premium electric moped firm Eysing has revealed the new PF40, which gives the firm’s retro-infused machine an Italian design twist.
That’s because the new model has been styled by Pininfarina, the storied Italian design house that’s best known for its work on classic Ferrari models, but has increasingly turning its hand to electric mobility of all shapes and sizes – including a wild Vmoto Soco concept.

The new Eysing PF40 is a reworked version of the firm’s Pioneer, a hand-built e-moped that uses a 1.5kW direct drive hub motor and is offered in two versions with a top speed of 15.5mph and 28mph respectively.
Pininfarina said that the new PF40’s design is built on the styling of 1930s motorcycles with a “retro-futuristic” twist. As a result, it features an analogue tachometer and vintage-style headlight, but with a sleeker, minimalist body.
The changes to the PF40 aren’t just for show, either: Pininfarina says that the changes to the chassis and structure are intended to improve the driving experience. The motor has been moved lower on the vehicle, and a transparent ‘tank’ next to the saddle offers storage (although, being transparent, best not leave your valuables on display in it).
There are also aluminium-spoked wheels and slim front suspension forks. The PF40 also features a battery that “guarantees” up to 50 miles of range, matching the regular Pioneer.
Revealed at the Masters Expo 2022 in Amsterdam, the Eysing PF40 is now available on pre-sale. The first models are set to reach customers in early 2024, with a starting price of €13,870 (£11,900).
