Swedish electric motorbike firm Cake has revealed a new “boundary-pushing” lightweight, high-performance off-road bike called the Bukk.
Initially offered in a limited-edition run of 50 units, the Cake Bukk off-road platform is designed for trail and track use, with company boss Stefan Ytterborn claiming that it showcased “the boundary-pushing performance ambition of Cake products” and represents “where true excitement blends with responsibility”.

Classed as an A2 off-road bike, the Bukk platform has been engineered and manufactured on a new platform featuring bespoke frame, geometry and suspension, with a focus on offering a “category-leading” power to weight ratio. The machine weighs just 85kg – 64kg for the frame and 21kg for the battery – thanks to the use of an aluminium frame and aircraft-grade alloys for the key components.
Power comes from a motor that has 9kW of nominal power with a peak of 16kW, which also gives a frankly ludicrous 310lb ft of torque. That gives the machine a top speed of around 62mph. There is a removable 72V, 2.9kWh battery, which Cake claims allows for around three hours of off-road riding. It can be charged from empty to 100 per cent in 2.5 hours on a standard outlet.
How Cake is aiming to make the cleanest dirt bike ever
A major focus of the Bukk has been on offering agility and control for off-road usage. Up front it features WP Cone valve air fork suspension, which has 278mm of travel compression damping and rebound damping to improve the ride. The rear suspension has 297mm of travel, and uses an adjustable Ohlin shock absorbed that has been custom-tuned for Cake.
The Bukk will initially be offered in a limited edition run of 50 models, all finished in Cake’s Race series yellow paint. Priced at £12,780, it is available to order now for a £1000 deposit.
By the way, in case you were wondering: as is tradition for Cake models, the Bukk name has been inspired by Gotland, the Swedish island where the firm does its testing work. In this case, Bukk apparently means ‘Thunder Cloud’ in the ancient language called Gutnish that used to be spoken on the island.
